Writer's Guidelines
If you are a woman passionate about living an awake and aware life, one rooted in meditation in its myriad of forms, mindfulness, kindness and compassion, we'd love to hear from you.
We welcome information-based articles, personal essays, poetry, photography and other creative expressions suitable to our topics and readership.
Meditate Like A Girl (set to launch April 1) is a free online publication. We do not pay our writers but we do love and appreciate them very much!
Content: Meditation. Mindful living (including eating, walking, parenting, education, business). Family and relationships. Creativity. Sustainability. Animals and pets. Spiritual practices of all types. Personal and spiritual growth for women.
All submissions must be in alignment with our Mission Statement and carry the energy of mindfulness, compassion, kindness, and non-sectarian hospitality.
All submissions must be fresh and original, not published elsewhere (without permission from the editor).
We are also seeking submissions for our "Awakenings" department. If you have a story of "awakening" you'd like to share with our readers, we'd love to hear from you. "Awakenings" submissions must meet the same guidelines as "regular" submissions as outlined on this page.
Tone: We ask that all articles be informational or self-reflective; spiritual rather than "religious" in nature. No self-promotion please, just juice to spread joy.
Readership: Our readers are global, women of all ages, from all walks of life, all spiritual persuasions.
Format: Articles should not range from 500 - 1200 words in length. (For optimum reading, shorter is better.)
You may include a photo with your article and it will be considered, though we reserve the right to use another.
Send text as rtf or word doc. Single spaced. (We use Macs here, so be aware ...)
Send images as attached jpgs.
Include a 3-5 line personal bio with links and a thumbnail picture of yourself.
(Your photo is optional.)
Permissions: We ask that you grant Meditate Like A Girl a 30-day (temporary) copyright to your work. No, we will not use it for other purposes, but we'd like it to stay here—and only here—for 30 days.
Submit: submit (at) buddhachick (dot) org
Within 24 hrs. we will send you confirmation of receipt.
Within one week you will receive an email of acceptance—or decline and gracious thanks.
Themes: We appreciate articles in support of our monthly theme but all submissions on (above) topics are welcome anytime. Articles are due by the 15th of the month prior to publication. (If you are finding this invitation to submit, "late," submit anyway. We can often fit late submissions in to our line-up.)
